A precise fusion
Each piece in the collection is a precise fusion of engineering and design, where technical components, materials, and geometry work in symbiosis to control and transport light. Developed in close collaboration with Viabizzuno’s engineers and technicians, this approach ensures unparalleled clarity and performance and pushes the boundaries for light itself.
Aura is built around carefully engineered light prisms, sculpting the light into invisible vortex beams —allowing for the light to be transferred effectively through its different diffusers and provide quality lighting.
"We are delighted to collaborate with Snøhetta, a practice that shares our passion for design and innovation. Aura represents the perfect synthesis of minimalism, formal purity, and technological innovation; a vortex of light capable of fitting with measured discretion and extreme versatility into any architectural context' – Corrado Colli, CEO Viabizzuno
Three teams have been selected to compete
NRK is one of the most important institutions in the development of Norway as a nation. Their mandate related to freedom of expression and public education makes the project of creating a new head office in Oslo extra important for Snøhetta and Link. Our new media reality requires the best possible platform for the employees, but also a building that lowers the threshold for interacting with the city and the public. Not least, it is also crucial that projects like this cut greenhouse gas emissions, and it is fantastic that NRK has set such high climate goals," says Snøhetta co-founder Kjetil Trædal Thorsen
Give a home for Christmas
For the second year in a row, Snøhetta has collaborated with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) to design a unique gingerbread house – building on the old Norwegian tradition of creating and decorating gingerbread houses for Christmas. This year’s edition is an untraditional house consisting of five repeated, hollow frames, together creating a void symbolizing a home that is no more. The design template can be purchased as part of NRC’s Christmas campaign “Give a Home for Christmas”, where all sales and donations go to their work in helping people in need to find shelter.
Dapted housing can improve the living
On Karmøy, an island on the southwestern coast of Norway, Snøhetta has designed three adapted homes for residents with serious substance abuse and psychiatric diagnoses. The design of the homes are based on results from a research project in which different shapes, materials and colours, as well as solutions for housing technology and fire safety, have been investigated to find solutions that can increase the quality of living for residents, strengthen HSE and safety for employees, as well as reduce the municipality's costs.
The goal is that the research will be scaled up to other municipalities, and in the future can provide good and lasting solutions for more people.
